Call for Music, Video, and Installations

Call

ICMC 2005 invites the submission of electroacoustic music, video and installation works that reflect the diversity of the field. Opportunities exist to combine digital resources with a variety of instrumental ensembles as detailed below. A number works will be selected for inclusion on a compact disc to be available at the conference.

Deadline

Music, video and installation submissions must be received no later than Saturday, February 5th, 2005.

Applicants will be notified of acceptance or rejection of music, videos and installations by May 15th, 2005.

Performances

Performances will take place every day during ICMC 2005:

  • at 1:00 p.m. at the ESMUC (Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya), where the paper presentations take place.
  • at 8:00 p.m. at the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) Auditorium.

Musicians

Spezialiced professional soloists will be available:

Musicians will be available from the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC). The following instrumental combinations are available:
  • Quintets
    • flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and French horn
    • 2 trumpets, French horn, trombone and tuba
    • clarinet and string quartet.
    • flute, clarinet, violin, cello and percussion (1)
  • Quartets
    • string quartet
    • saxophone quartet
    • guitar quartet
    • trombone quartet
    • flute, viola, cello and guitar
    • percussion quartet
    • tuba quartet
  • Trios
    • string trio
    • flute, viola and guitar
  • Duos
    • cello and guitar
    • flute and guitar
    • saxophone and guitar
    • violin and guitar
    • 2 guitars
    • 2 flutes
  • Solos
    • all kind of orchestral instruments
    • flamenco guitar
    • flamenco singer
    • piano
    • voice

Rehearsals

  • Rehearsals for ESMUC performances will take place at ESMUC on the afternoon of the day before the concert, and/or on the morning of the concert day.
  • Rehearsals for UPF performances will take place at the UPF Auditorium during the day preceeding the concert.
  • Composers are invited to be present at the rehearsals of their work and manage with the assigned technician the rehearsal and the performance of the pieces.
  • In the case of live electronics we ask that the composer arrive with the required software on his/her laptop. All of our IUA-MTG-UPF-ESMUC systems are PC-based, no Apple Macintoshes will be available.
