Study, Create, and Connect Through Computer Music

This site is the home of the International Computer Music Conference. It was created for students, teachers, and researchers who want to learn more about the world of music and technology. Here you will find papers, study resources, and creative projects. The focus is on sharing knowledge in a way that is simple and open. You can use this site to study, find ideas for your own work, or connect with others in the same field. Computer music is for everyone who is curious about sound and digital tools, and this is the place to explore it.

Sep 9 2025 :: Music Essay Writing Competition Application Now Open!

We invite college students to write a clear and fresh essay about music and technology. Share your ideas, your study, and your voice. You can write about creative tools, sound design, live performance, AI in music, music in games, or music education. This competition is open to students from any country. All essays will be reviewed and judged by professional academic writers from the Assignment Geek college writing service. The judging will focus on clarity, original ideas, evidence, relevance, and style.

  • Who can enter: College students from any program and year
  • Language: English
  • Essay length: 800 to 1,200 words
  • Format: PDF or DOCX
  • Theme: Music and Technology in real life
  • Entry fee: Free

How to Apply

  1. Write your music essay in English. Keep it between 800 and 1,200 words.
  2. Save as PDF or DOCX. Use 12 pt font and standard margins.
  3. Name the file like this: LastName_FirstName_EssayTitle.pdf
  4. Include a separate cover page with your name, email, college, program, and year.
  5. Add a short bio of 50 to 80 words.
  6. Send your file to [email protected]

  • Feature in our newsletter and social channels

We may add extra prizes. Any update will appear on this page.

Privacy

We collect your name, email, college, and essay file to run the competition. We keep your data safe and do not sell it. You can ask us to remove your data after the competition ends, except for published winning entries.

Use of Work

By entering, you give us a non exclusive right to publish, share, and archive your music essay with credit to you. You may publish your essay elsewhere after results. Please credit the ICMC competition if you do.

Disqualification

We may disqualify entries that break the rules, include plagiarism, include false information, or show abusive content.

Conflicts of Interest

If a judge has taught or supervised the author in the last 12 months, that judge will not review that entry.

Appeals

Results are final. You may write to us if you see a clear error in admin steps. We will review admin issues only.

Withdrawal

You can withdraw your entry any time before the deadline by email. After the deadline, we cannot withdraw entries during review.

A call for Workshops (deadline April 5th) and a call for Off-ICMC (deadline April 5th) have been added to the list.

Dec 2 :: Call for Demonstrations & Provisional Program

We have added a new and detailed call for demonstrations. Multiple demonstration rooms with audiovisual facilities are available, so make sure you have a look at the call before you submit your papers.
